Acupuncture

An ancient, gentle medicine that uses fine needles at specific points to support the body's natural flow, ease pain, calm the mind, and help bring the whole system back into balance.

Sam Bahr's acupuncture room

At Holistic Healing at Beck Wellness Center, acupuncture is more than a quick procedure. Sam Bahr, L.Ac., Dipl., takes a thoughtful, whole-body approach to every session, looking beyond an isolated symptom to understand the larger picture of how you're feeling.

Each treatment is personalized to your individual needs and may incorporate acupuncture alongside cupping, gua sha, tui na, electroacupuncture or trigger point techniques when appropriate. Sessions are quiet, attentive and unhurried, with time to discuss what you're experiencing and create a treatment that feels intentional and individualized.

How Acupuncture Works

Acupuncture is rooted in thousands of years of traditional East Asian medicine and is also the subject of modern research exploring its effects on pain, the nervous system and the body's regulatory processes. By gently stimulating specific points on the body, acupuncture may influence pathways involved in pain perception, stress response and autonomic nervous system activity.

The result is a treatment experience designed not only around the symptom that brought you in, but around supporting the body as an interconnected whole.

What It May Support

  • Pain & TensionSupport for back, neck, hip, knee and joint issues, headaches and migraines, and other forms of physical pain and tension.
  • Stress, Anxiety & Nervous System RegulationSupport for stress, anxiety, burnout and nervous system regulation, with treatments designed to help the body move out of a heightened state and into a calmer, more restorative state.
  • Sleep & EnergySupport for sleep concerns, fatigue and overall regulation, particularly when stress and nervous system imbalance are contributing factors.
  • Digestion & Hormonal BalanceA whole-body approach that may support digestive concerns, hormonal balance and women's health as part of the body's interconnected systems.
  • Emotional Tension & Trauma Held in the BodySam's work also recognizes the connection between physical and emotional well-being. Acupuncture may provide supportive space for releasing emotional tension, reconnecting with the body and working with patterns of stress and trauma that may be held physically.

Many clients come in for physical pain and are surprised by how much calmer, clearer and more grounded they feel overall.

What to Expect

Your first visit begins with an in-depth conversation about your health history, current concerns, lifestyle, stress levels and goals. Sam uses this information to create an individualized treatment plan based on what you need that day.

Once the needles are placed, you'll rest comfortably while the treatment takes place. Sam remains attentive throughout the session and may incorporate additional techniques when appropriate. Appointments are intentionally unhurried, creating time to slow down, settle in and reconnect with your body.
